Welcome to the 9th annual NEW.Mech!

NEW.Mech is a one-day workshop that aims to bring together the New England Mechanics community with an interest in exploring new research directions in the mechanics of materials and structures, and provides an opportunity to share the latest advancements in the field.

The Brown School of Engineering is excited to be hosting New.Mech 2018 on September 29th, 2018. This year we will have plenary talks from three invited guest speakers, selected short talks, a poster session, and featured videos in the "Gallery of Mechanics". There is no cost to register, and breakfast, lunch, and reception are included. Students, in particular, are strongly encouraged to take part!

Our confirmed invited speakers are:

Arun Shukla - Simon Ostrach Professor, University of Rhode Island
Katia Bertoldi - William and Ami Kuan Danoff Professor of Applied Mechanics, Harvard University
Yuri Bazilevs - E. Paul Sorensen Professor of Engineering, Brown University

Unfortunately registration is now closed.  We look forward to a great event this Saturday with over 240 registered attendees.  The tentative schedule is posted on the program page, as well as the tentative list of short talksposter session, and "Gallery of Mechanics" videos that will be on display.  Please email the conference chair david_henann@brown.edu with any final questions or concerns.

NEW.Mech is generously supported by the C.V. Starr Lectureship Fund and the School of Engineering at Brown University.
